I came back to provide some important updates on this watch. I will start with, I still love it. However, I purchased a Honda Accord with Android Auto and for some reason, this watch and Android or maybe the bluetooth don't like each other. If I am wearing the watch and connect the phone in the car, the phone will not connect. Sometimes, I literally have to restart the phone and turn off the watch before the phone will work with AA. Never happens when I am not wearing the watch. The only other thing is that I have come to dislike the dedicated charger because It just adds one more cable that I have to plug in. I wish this watch had a standard micro USB charging port. Maybe it doesn't to keep it waterproof. Despite the things I have mentioned, this watch still charges and turns on even after it has not been used for months. It has never locked up or done any unannounced restarts. I am happy to say, it just works when I need it to track my activities or provide a pulse reading :)Last Final Update - Almost two months in and it's still going strong. No issues with getting it wet. I shower with it on sometimes and it keeps on ticking. When I connect Android Auto, the watch never interferes or causes any problems. I have left it on the charger for days and it has not frozen it died. I love that when the battery gets low, it can just serve as a watch. When I got this, I didn't love the rubber strap but now I appreciate it's functionality. Overall, this watch is a keeper!!Final Update - I wore this watch in the rain for a 45 minute run and there were no issues! I worked as well wet as it does dry! And overall, I still love this watch after a month of everyday use.UPDATE (10/8/19)I have been wearing this watch for about a week now and it is still wonderful. The battery last all day, which is what I need. I don't wear it to bed so putting it on the charger is not an issue. I did turn off the screen so that I have to press the button when I want to use the watch because, well, it comes on all by itself at the right times. The watch does everything that it should without any issues. It has gotten a few updates since I started using it and they have occurred without the need for my intervention. I think it is cool to answer calls from my wrist although my partner feels it a "gimmick" because he does not see anyone else doing it. I told him it's because NO ONE else is as cool as me! I did not have the heart to tell him he is just hanging with the wrong people. LOL! Being able to answer calls makes it less important that I know where my phone is when I am in the house. I love not having to stop what I am doing to find my phone before the caller hangs up. And yes, this is done without the need for a separate phone plan, it uses the Bluetooth on your phone. When smartwatches first became available, I was all in. I owned many and each time, they disappointed. Some stopped charging, some got a splash of water and never worked again, some were just never right. None of them could take calls, hold a lot of music, or provide all day battery power.Well, imagine my surprise when the Armani smartwatch arrived. As you might suspect it was beautifully packaged. My only sadness is that I had to charge it before I was able to use it but it came up to 8% pretty quick and I was good to proceed with setup.Note, the instruction manual is oddly organized. When you open it, you will see a language other than English and assume that somewhere in the back of the manual is where you will find the English instructions. Nope. Go back to the front and find Step 1. There is English and all the other languages. Here is the quick start help you will need. While the watch is charging, go to the Google Play Store or Itunes and download the WearOS app. Once the watch is charged, press the big button on the right, it will turn on. Make sure your phone's Bluetooth is turned on, open the WearOS app and follow the instructions. Setup is that easy. You can make and receive phone calls from the watch. A quick press on the big button will show you a wheel with all the apps, and Phone is one of there. The first time you use it, you will have to "allow" certain permissions but then, you are good to go. I have made a few calls and people can hear me just fine. When you are in a phone call, press the big button to access the volume control.I wore the watch while giving the dog a bath and got it wet on purpose. It didn't even flicker and kept right on ticking.I have a very small wrist (female) but the men's watch works fine for me. I am on the last hole and it fits me just right. I am also old and use reading glasses so the bigger face is a must. Soon, I will figure out how to increase the font size. The watch is, of course, linked to my Google account so it was quick and easy to connect it to Fit and track my activities. I also setup the heart rate monitor and it worked flawlessly. The top recessed button allows you to customize the watch face (still figuring that o...
I love it!The first time you set-up the watch, you may feel some lag or that the battery drains fast. After all the updates and that, the watch is super fast and responsive. The battery last 24hrs with a normal usage (Always on display, Gps on, Wifi on, etc...).I Love the sleep tracker and the heart rate sensor. The only thing that I don't like is the watch strap.
This review is going to focus on the features of the smartwatch itself, not so much on the WearOS platform or smartwatches in general. If you're considering a smartwatch in this price range, most likely you are already familiar with the platform. Go to the end for a Pro/Con list & TL/DR version.I have a lot of experience with Android smartwatches, going all the way back to the first gen Moto 360. I also have experience with the Emporio Armani 2. This smartwatch packs a lot of features in it that makes it a premium watch. Though it is on the high side, price wise, ($375 at the time of the review) I think it is worth it. With that said, most of the features are also in the Armani 2. So if you can find a good deal on the last model, you likely won't be disappointed. The processor in this watch is definitely better, but not that much more noticeably. The 3 also has a built in speaker, which I think has limited value, other than the novelty of being able to say it's like a Dick Tracy watch. It is lighter in weight than the version 2, which makes it more comfortable to wear all day. Also, the scroll wheel on the side is easier to turn than the one on the 2. So there are improvements from version 2, but 2 still packs a lot into it.I like that it is really multi-functional. It is dressy looking, but still has all the heart rate tracking & integrated GPS, so it can be used as a fitness watch. I also like the silicone strap that comes with it. I do use it for fitness features, so the fancier leather strap (like the one that came with the 2) would just get damaged. It also has NFC, so you can integrate with Google Pay and use it to tap to pay. While it does have a speaker, I really don't use it. I might turn it on when I, know I'm alone just for fun. But most of the time, I don't want people around me to hear what I'm doing with my watch (or listening in on my calls). It also boasts being swimproof, but I didn't test this feature. I don't really have a need to use it in the water.Battery life is slightly better than the version 2 watch, and one of the better ones in Wear OS watches. It will easily get you a full day's worth of use, and I use it quite a bit throughout the day. I regularly record two bike commutes using the Strava app, routinely get lots of notifications and use it to control music. And I can easily get a full day's worth of juice out of it.Maybe the only bad thing is that I'm not a fan of the integrated Armani watchface collection. They do have a lot of functionality in them, but I find the process of customizing them and saving them is not intuitive.TL/DR: The Emporior Armani 3 is a premium WearOS smartwatch packed with all the features you need (and some you don't). Processor is new & fast, battery lasts all day. It's pricey, but worth it if you are in the market for a smartwatch of this caliber.Pros:All the sensors: Heart Rate, GPS, NFCLots of storageSnapdragon 3100 ProcessorEasy turn scroll wheelCustomizable side buttonsCons:Not a fan of the Armani family of watchfaces. You can customize them, but the process of saving and applying them is confusing.
This Armani smartwatch is legit amazing. The look of this thing is just incredible. So unique. Love the shiny metallic blue. It definitely gets peoples attention! Exclusive watch faces are super cool. The other great thing about this is that is uses the Google watch OS. Not some junk that was cobbled together by a third party. That means the watch is super smooth and functions great and with Google you can count on solid OS updates as well. The battery easily lasts me all day and charging is fast. Super comfortable as well. A real stand out smartwatch!
