OMEGA Updates Classic Speedmaster Moonwatch

by Murat Balci on June 08, 2023

The Speedmaster Moonwatch by OMEGA continues to be one of the most iconic timepieces in history. The first watch ever worn by an astronaut on the moon has been a mainstay of men's watch collections for decades, and in 2021 it finally receives a subtle update. First, in the model's history, OMEGA has updated this classic timepiece with Master Chronometer certification.

The watch has a similar appearance to the original, with an asymmetrical case, a step dial, and a double bevel case back. Standard Speedmaster models feature a stainless steel case and the option of a steel bracelet or fabric straps. There are also options for sapphire or hesalite glass, as well as 18K Sedna red gold and 18K Canopus white gold as premium options.

The introduction of the manually-wound Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861 is the most significant change. This iteration of the Speedmaster Moonwatch features a world-famous caliber with an improved power reserve of 50 hours and increased magnetic resistance, making it the most advanced to date.

Depending on the model, the price of OMEGA's Speedmaster Moonwatch varies for buyers. The steel case with a fabric strap and steel case with a steel strap is priced at $5,950 and $6,300, respectively, whereas the red gold and white gold models are priced at $34,800 and $45,500.

If the price is not prohibitive, visit OMEGA to purchase a Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional.
